The Local North Norfolk Area
Cow Parsley Cottage is located in the small village of Kettlestone, Norfolk. Perfectly located just 5 miles from the coast, within a few minutes drive you have the lovely seaside towns of Wells next the Sea and Blakeney.
The fabulous unspoilt sandy beaches of Brancaster and Holkham lie just east of Wells, whilst the attractive market towns of Burnham Market and Holt are within easy reach. Nationally important wildlife areas are dotted along the coast, and Pensthorpe Nature Park lies just a mile down the road.
For National Trust lovers, we are close to Blakeney National Nature Reserve and Sheringham Park, with Felbrigg and Blicking Hall a little further away. The historic village of Little Walsingham, with its abbey and Bascilia is just a few minutes drive away - the springtime display of snowdrops in the abbey is one of the best in the country.
The gently undulating countryside provides for miles of easy cycling paths and footpaths criss cross through the villages around Kettlestone giving lots of variety from a gentle stroll or a bracing walk along the coast on a cold winters day.
The North Norfolk Coastline
Kettlestone sits half way along, and just inland from the North Norfolk Coast Site of Special Scientific Interest, 30 miles of internationally important wildlife habitats. Habitats within the SSSI include reed beds, salt marshes, freshwater lagoons and shingle beaches. The wetlands are important for wildlife, including many scarce breeding birds.
Within 5 minutes drive from the cottage is the town of Fakenham, and on the way in, a brand new supermarket for all your holiday catering needs. In the other direction is the delightful town of Holt, with its independent shops, eateries and boutiques, a perfect place to spend a few hours exploring.
